Summer at NDMU

Community, Housing, & Leadership for summer school and intern students.

The Office of Residence & Commuter Life offers housing during the summer for any college student with an internship in the local area or are enrolled in summer classes at NDMU. Summer residents reside in Doyle Hall which features access to community lounges, laundry, and kitchens. 

Double and single rooms are available during the summer. All rooms include a ceiling fan, dresser, closet or wardrobe, twin size bed, desk and chair per student residing in the space. Limited rooms with air conditioning and semi-private or private bathrooms are available for residents with documented medical needs on file in the Office of Disability Support Services. Each floor offers multiple communal bathrooms for residents. An all-female community is available by request based upon availability as well. Roommate preferences should be indicated on the intern's application, however we cannot guarantee that preferences will be available.

Benefits of Staying at NDMU - Interns will enjoy accommodations in one of our residence halls on campus that is located in downtown Baltimore and in close proximity to many local attractions and businesses. Located at the entrance of campus is an MAT stop, local bus transportation in Baltimore.

Transition Housing

Current NDMU students who are living on campus are able to participate in Transition Housing which will allow them to stay through to the start of the summer session. Students who wish to participate in Transition Housing MUST be available to move during Transition Housing Day in May. Students unable to move on Transition Housing Day will not be approved for Transition Housing. The cost of transition housing is $20 per day or $140 per week. Under no circumstances can a student or their belongings remain in a summer space past August 3, 2016. More information regarding the availability of Summer to Fall transition housing will be available in July.

Non-NDMU students may not extend your stay in intern housing and must depart by the times listed below on the move-out days.

All summer residents will be served by the Doyle Hall Desk that will have limited operations (7pm-9pm) nightly outside of the scheduled move-in dates below. All residents must check-in and check-out at the Doyle Hall Desk.

  • Spring Transition Housing: May 22nd 
  • Session I Housing:May 29th-June 26th
  • Session II Housing: June 26th-July 24th
  • Full Summer Housing*: May 22nd-August 3rd

Rates

The summer rates are divided per summer session. NDMU students will be billed for summer housing directly to their student account. Intern students will have to pay a non-refundable deposit of $200, applied towards the total bill, is required to reserve the space for summer. Once a room assignment is made, the total balance due will be provided to the intern electronically via email. All balances must be paid in full for intern students prior to arrival via cash or check. We recommend that balances be paid at least (7) days in advance to ensure a smooth arrival to campus. Interns residing on-campus for the entire summer can pay for half their stay prior to move-in and half by July 1st. We do not provide payment plans for intern housing.

 Summer residents have the option of purchasing a meal plan for the all-you-care-to-eat facility on campus in Doyle Hall. Meal plans can be purchased for one (1) session or for the entire summer and offer a discounted rate compared to paying the at the door price. The dining hall anticipated operating Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm with additional hours occasionally available throughout the summer. The session meal plan is 15-block meals for $100 and the full summer meal plan is 35-block meals for $225. Additional information regarding dining operations will be available mid-April.
